Four nabbed for armed robbery at petrol pump

Nagpur: Less than 24 hours after three armed men robbed a petrol pump at swordpoint in Pachpaoli, the police nabbed four persons in relation to the robbery on Sunday. While three of the accused allegedly robbed a petrol pump employee, the fourth one was on the lookout to help them carry out the robbery.

According to the police, the three robbers targeted the petrol pump late night when only one cashier was present along with a few other workers. The accused have been identified as Sonu Khan, Feeroz Ansari, Mazar Khan and Zakir Hussain.

The sword borne miscreants barged into the petrol pump’s cabin and broke its glass, creating panic among employees. The accused robbed Rs10,888 from cashier Mahendra Bhanarkar after threatening him of dire consequences.

Other employees at the petrol pump did not intervene as the accused were carrying weapons. The miscreants then fled the spot with money.

Soon after, the employees informed police control room which transferred the call to Pachpaoli police. Cops rushed to the spot but by then the accused had escaped.

Cops conducted spot panchnama and also spotted CCTV cameras installed at the petrol pump. While scrutinizing the CCTV footage, cops identified the accused, as they had prior criminal records. Pachpaoli police rounded up the accused, but they were yet to be formally arrested.

All the accused have several offences registered against them, including robbery and attempt to murder. The police have recovered some of the stolen cash from the accused.

Cops suspect more people to be involved in the robbery.
