NAGPUR: The Nagpur University seems to be going back to the Yadav-Kohchade era, when results used to be inordinately delayed, and students continue to suffer.
Two decades down the line, the same issues are haunting the university administration, primarily due to apathy of vice chancellor Subhash Chaudhari and pro-VC Sanjay Dudhe. This time, the NU Examination Section has failed to declare most of the results for well over four months.
The National OBC Students Federation (NOSF) staged protests in front of NU’s Jamnalal Bajaj premises on Thursday, complaining about NU’s failure to declare results for over 120 days, that has led to suffering for students.

They warned of intensifying the agitation if the results were not declared within a week.
In a series of reports, TOI had reported how NU Exam Section, which had displayed improved performance during the tenure of former pro-VCs Gaurishankar Parashar and Pramod Yeole, is on the verge of collapse due to the apathy of its top brass.
TOI had exposed NU’s failure to hand over printed marksheets to over four lakh students, which led to problems for its final-year students seeking admissions to other institutions in India and abroad. Till date the problem remains unresolved, said NU officials.
Later, TOI reported on NU directing colleges to conduct first-year exams without allocating enrolment and roll numbers to students, which has happened for the first time in its history. NU has also failed to provide degrees to students passing out from the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Chair since 2017.

On Thursday, the NOSF delegation led by city president Vinod Hazare and district president Nilesh Kodhe met the pro-VC and handed him a representation. Dudhe, however, passed the buck to colleges, saying that they had failed to upload the marks of their students on NU portal, which was leading to the delay.
TOI repeatedly tried to call pro-VC and Board of Examination and Evaluation (BOEE) director Prafulla Sable, and also sent text messages to them for comments on the issue, but both failed to respond.
Quoting NU officials, the NOSF activists, however, claimed that MKCL was not cooperating with the NU Exam Section and had refused to share students’ data, which was leading to inordinate delay in results preparation. “Since MKCL was ousted from NU by terminating its contract, it has not handed over students’ information to NU. Therefore, NU had asked the new agency Promarc to prepare the data afresh. This was leading to the entire confusion. This is happening even as most of the work has been switched over to digital format,” they said.
The NOSF activists blamed NU top brass for the mismanagement and ignoring the students’ grievances. They pointed out that due to inordinate delay in results, the entire academic calendar would go for a toss in the next academic year commencing from June.
