Wardha: Five persons died in a road accident near Shirpur
village, on Wardha-Yavatmal
Road on Wednesday night. All of them were residents of Ghatanji
in Yavatmal
district. Sources said that all the five (aged between 19 and 27 years), had come to Nagpur in their new car.
While returning near Shirpur village, 30 km before Yavatmal, the car collided with a soybean-loaded truck, which was heading to Nagpur from Nanded.
The impact of the accident was so severe that all the five died on the spot and the car was completely damaged as it came under the truck's wheels. Police said that the truck driver and owner Sheru Bhai (22), a resident of Nanded, left the vehicle on the spot and is absconding.
Constable K B Munde, who was on the spot for rescue operation, said, "it took two hours to bring out the bodies from the car."
The deceased have been identified as Amol Pralhad Gode (27), Ajay Ganpat Kumbare (24), Akash Vijay Giri (19), Sumit Suresh Kambale (24) and Rahul Ashok Fuse (24), all residents of Ghatanji.
Police have booked the truck driver, and are investigating.
Ashok Fuse, father of one of the deceased, said, "they went to Nagpur at around 2 pm on Wednesday. My son said 'we are going to attend an event, and promised to return before night, but we were unknown about the place. The car was purchased recently."
