Fire at city hospital

As many as 30 patients admitted at Shat-Ayu Hospital and Research Centre on Wardha Road had a miraculous escape after a fire erupted at the basement of the hospital.

NAGPUR: As many as 30 patients admitted at Shat-Ayu Hospital and Research Centre on Wardha Road had a miraculous escape after a fire erupted at the basement of the hospital on Friday morning.
Though no casualties have been reported, sources said property worth Rs 2.2 lakh was damaged in the fire.
Lokesh Karade, an eye-witness told TOI that at 6.30 am, when he was went to bring tea for his relative admitted in the hospital, he found smoke coming from the hospital's basement.

Karade informed the hospital authorities, who called the fire brigade. Three fire tenders took half-an-hour to douse the fire. Dr Mukesh Mishra the hospital's director said the fire was not major and with timely detection, a major accident has been averted.
