Final battle against Naxalism underway: CM
Chandrapur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday asserted that Naxalism will be completely eradicated, as security forces intensify operations across the country under the leadership of Union home minister Amit Shah. Fadnavis highlighted the major setback suffered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh and reiterated that similar efforts will be undertaken in Gadchiroli.
Fadnavis emphasised that the final battle against Naxalism has begun in Gadchiroli, with key cadres surrendering before the govt. "This marks a crucial step in our mission to eliminate Naxalism from its roots," he said while talking to reporters in Warora.
Meanwhile, security forces are engaged in an intensive anti-Naxal operation in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. On Sunday, an encounter resulted in the elimination of 31 Naxals. Four security personnel sustained serious injuries in the gunfight, and two later succumbed during treatment.
In the past 40 days, a total of 56 Naxals have been neutralised in ongoing operations. Security forces continue combing operations in the Indravati National Park area of Bijapur to dismantle Naxal networks.
