Family getting dirty water for 15 years
NAGPUR: Believe it. A family in Nagpur has been getting contaminated water supply for the last 15 years and civic body has not rectified the problem despite a court order. Ramteke family of New Kailash Nagar has been fighting a relentless battle for getting what is their right—supply of clean water to their household. The family the pipeline supplying to them is damaged and so is a drainage line passing nearby. When all else failed, the lady of the house Babita Ramteke on Monday created a ruckus outside the chamber of municipal commissioner Sanjiv Jaiswal. This at least helped her get a promise that the problem would be set right in a fortnight. Babita told TOI that despite several complaints, NMC failed to solve their problem. Fed up, she approached the high court that directed the authorities to resolve the issue immediately. Still, thick-skinned NMC officials did not do anything. “Yellowish water continues to be supplied to my house. Officials, who visited my home suggested yellowish water was not harmful and could be used after boiling,” Ramteke claimed.
