Engineer, four others held for robbing driver

NAGPUR: The Nagpur rural police arrested a hardware engineer and his associates for looting a container truck driver at Mahalgaon village, near Pardhi Petrol Pump, in the wee hours of Thursday.
Police said, a container heading from Bhubaneswar to Nashik was stopped by a Swift car that overtook it near village Mahalgaon. The car���s occupants threatened the container driver Jitendrasingh Karnailsingh (31), of Shivan, with a tommy bar.

The frightened driver ran off into the fields but was chased by the assailants. The assailants beat up Jitendra and snatched Rs 5,000 and a mobile from him before fleeing towards Nagpur.
Another container truck driver informed the Kapsi police station about the incident. Kapsi police in turn informed the police control room. The injured Jitendrasingh was shifted to Mayo Hospital for treatment.
Soon afterwards, in a nakabandi Pachpaoli police stopped a Swift car and its driver and owner Narendra Bhagat (26), a hardware engineer residing at Chandramani Nagar. His accomplices, Sayyad Ali alias Baba (20) of Siddharth Nagar; Mohd Khan alias Sonu (22) of Vaishali Nagar, Tanvir Sheikh (18) and Shahid Mohd (20) both residents of Ashish Nagar were also held.
Pachpaoli cops handed them over to Mauda police, which seized the car, cash Rs 1,260 and a mobile handset.
