Gedam, who was not provided mandatory helmet and belt, had been engaged in the work violating the safety norms. During the course of the work, Gedam is learnt to have suffered a fall from the height while speaking on the mobile phone on September 1. He was rushed to the hospital with injuries but declared dead in the course of treatment in the early hours of the following day.
The body of the victim was released to the kin without informing police, violating the norms laid down in the procedures of medico-legal cases. Police said no post-mortem could be performed on the body.
