NAGPUR: A well-settled city businessman, Anil Vaid (34), a resident of Pratap Nagar hanged himself from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope at his luxurious flat in Shewalkar Building on Thursday.
His wife Saylee and six-year-old son Ashish were away in Bangalore when Vaid took the extreme step. The body was discovered by the police officials who broke open the door after being called by one of Vaid's friends, who had come to meet him.
"Getting no response after ringing the door bell for a long time, the friend informed the neighbours. Then getting suspicious, he came to the police station and informed us," said a cop.
Police said that a suicide note was found in the pocket of the pants worn by the deceased. The note explains that no one is responsible for his death, said a cop.
"He had written that he owned his business partners over Rs 10 lakhs, which was the cause of his suicide. He also requested his wife and his two elder brothers to pay the dues," said a police official.
Vaid, who hails from Bangalore, had been residing in the city for the past four years. The deceased owned a company making plastic material at MIDC.
Police said that Vaid's wife and son, who were in Bangalore, were supposed to reach the city on Thursday afternoon. Pratap Nagar police officials have registered a case of accidental death.
