Dabba trading ‘kingpin’ gets pre-arrest bail

on Wednesday granted ad-interim pre-arrest bail to Ravi Omprakash Agrawal, dubbed as the ‘kingpin’ of the Dabba trading scam.

Earlier, special court of principal district judge Pushpa Ganediwala had rejected his pre-arrest bail on July 2. Following police’s suspicion and discreet information, the premises of Agrawal’s L7 group were raided on May 12 and were thoroughly searched for days together by the police.

The petitioner moved higher judiciary through senior counsel Avinash Gupta and Aakash Gupta, who contended that the cops failed to find any incriminating material during the raid and even Panchanama recorded that no suspicious articles were found. Owing to absence of any incriminating material, Agrawal’s brother was already released on bail by the court.

Assistant public prosecutor Sanjay Doifode, representing the prosecution sought further time to file their reply, but the court granted ad-interim protection to the petitioner on several conditions and directives to join investigation. The court restricted him from leaving the city without permission of the court and to attend the office of the investigating agency daily for a week.
