Crime branch seizes pistol, live cartridges

NAGPUR: Crime branch has seized a 'mauser' pistol and three live cartridges from externee Anup Aade on Thursday. Aade, who was last year externed from the city for two years, was picked up from Surendragarh locality. It has come to fore that Aade was given the firearms by Anil Paunipagar, now in jail, to eliminate gangster Sumit Thakur but he was nabbed too.
Crime branch also nabbed two other externees - Uban Kaitwas and Rohit Tiwari - from Hudkeshwar. Both had been ordered to stay away from the city for two years. Kaitwas and Tiwari, who have several offences against them, were into property dealing. The arrests were made as part of the anti-crime drive ahead of the elections.
Crime branch has also nabbed two chain-snatchers, identified Arjun Soni and Chetan Singhi, for their alleged involvement in spate of street robberies. Soni and Singhi were involved in three chain-snatching cases at Sonegaon, Kotwali and Dhantoli.
