Crime branch arrests two carrying firearms and knives

Nagpur: Executing a well-planned trap, crime branch captured two men carrying firearms and knives. Based on a tip-off, the cops caught Javed Pathan (31) and Paris alias Pushpa Raju (23) near Hasanbagh Square. Two mobile phones, worth around ₹80,000, an iron knife, and a foreign-made pistol, worth ₹50,000 were seized from the duo. The accused were detained by Nandanvan police and have been booked under Section 135 of the IPC. An accomplice of the two, identified by the police as Bagde (alias Michael) fled from the spot on his motorcycle.Man arrested for extortionYashoda Nagar police on Tuesday arrested Ahmed Khan in an extortion case. According to the police, Khan approached Yashoda Nagar resident Amit Gaur and demanded money. When Gaur refused, the accused forcibly took ₹200 from the victim’s pocket. Later that day, he came to the victim’s house and kicked open the gate. He also went on to abuse and threatened to kill Gaur. The victim immediately approached the nearest police station. The police quickly tracked the accused down and booked him under Sections 392, 294, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).Armed robbers arrestedThe Kalamna police on Tuesday raided a dilapidated premises behind the BSNL office in Kalamna at 8 pm on Monday. In the raid, the cops arrested four heavily armed men, who were preparing for a robbery. The accused, Dashrath alias Lucky Sakhre (19), Devanshu alias Monu Yadav (19), Sheikh Jameel alias Golu Khalil (29), and Punesh Gangboir (19) were caught carrying an iron sword, a knife, a rope, a packet of red chilli powder, and two Activas, one without a registration number. Two more accomplices of theirs escaped during the raid.Man hangs himselfRahul Vadai, a 30-year-old resident of B-Town on Bhandara Road, hung himself on Tuesday. Police records state that he tied a wire to the grill of his bedroom window. When the victim’s relatives found him, they rushed him to Mayo Hospital for treatment. At 3.30 am, he was declared dead. The Pardi police have referred the medical examination of the victim and filed a case of accidental death.Drunk driving on the rise The Nagpur police on Tuesday registered a total of 14 cases under the drunken driving act. The total fine collected under this amounts to around ₹2.6 lakh. Apart from this over 3,000 motorists were booked under the Motor Vehicle Act by the Transport Branch Police and over ₹1.8 lakh have been charged as penalties. Sr citizen’s house robbed Sadhana Joshi (64), a resident of Pawanbhoomi was robbed by an unknown miscreant. According to the complaint registered by the Sonegaon police, Joshi had gone to Bhopal to visit a relative when the burglar broke into the house and looted booty worth approximately Rs 4.5 lakh.
