Couple booked for blackmail

Nagpur: Jaripatka police booked a couple from Dixit Nagar, Nari Road, for allegedly filming a man and blackmailing him for Rs1 lakh. Police arrested Baldeo Jumnani, 35, while his wife, Jayashree, 33, is still absconding. The complaint was filed by Sanjay Kanjwani, 26, of Sai Vasantshah Square. Kanjwani is a door-to-door clothes salesman. He told police that he had sold a few dresses to Jayashree. Since she was a regular customer, he had even exchanged his phone number with her.
Kanjwani told police that Jayashree had called him with some dresses at home last week. After a chat, she offered him a massage. “Jayashree told Kanjwani that she ran a parlour from home but didn’t publicize it. Lured of her offer, Kanjwani accepted the proposal and reached Jumnani’s home on January 28,” said PSI KD Wagh, the investigating officer.
However, Jayashree tried to seduce Kanjwani while her husband Baldeo filmed the act.
“Later, as per the couple’s plan, Jumnani suddenly entered the room and alleged that Kanjwani was molesting his wife. The couple threatened that they would show the video to his wife and relatives and demanded Rs one lakh,” told police.
After two days, Kanjwani agreed to pay Rs50,000 and handed over the cash to the couple at their Dixit Nagar residence. However, the couple again demanded Rs50,000. Not willing to pay the amount, Kanjwani immediately reported the matter to Jaripatka police.
After initial investigation, Police registered a case against the couple. Baldeo was arrested while Jayashree ran away from home.
Police said the couple has earlier duped one more man with the same trick. Police have seized the video in question.
