NAGPUR: Senior Congress leader and MLA Nitin Raut on Saturday accused chief minister Devendra Fadnavis of protecting criminal elements in Maharashtra, urging the public to take serious note of the issue. Speaking to reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan premises, Raut said, “Under the leadership of CM Fadnavis, a culture of shielding goons is flourishing in the state. The people of Maharashtra must reflect on this disturbing trend.”
Referring to the Beed and Parbhani incidents, Raut criticized the chief minister's ambiguous stance, calling it misleading and harmful to the Ambedkarite movement and the Dalit community. He added, “The government's deceptive position is aimed at diverting attention from the struggles of the Dalit community. Despite this six-day session, the people of Vidarbha have not received justice.”
Raut further alleged that the Election Commission has become a puppet under the government’s influence. He questioned BJP's victory in recent assembly elections, stating, “It remains to be seen whether BJP’s success is a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity or the Election Commission’s actions.”
