CM launches heat resilience CoE at IIM
Nagpur: CM Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Heat Resilience and Sustainable Cooling at Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM-N), aimed to strengthen state's response to rising heatwave conditions.The centre, launched virtually from Sahyadri Guest House on Monday, has been set up in collaboration with the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC) and will focus on developing strategies to manage and adapt to extreme heat, particularly in Vidarbha and other vulnerable regions.Fadnavis said the facility will initially review existing heat action and urban climate plans and provide technical support for their implementation across selected cities and districts in the state. According to officials, the centre will later be integrated into proposed State Institute of Disaster Management (SIDM) being developed at MIHAN in Nagpur. The govt has approved an initial outlay of 184 crore for the project, which will house multiple specialised centres focused on disaster preparedness. TNN
