NAGPUR: Municipal commissioner Sanjiv Jaiswal has asked headmasters of all NMC schools and assistant commissioners to ensure the educational institutions were proper shapes. He warned of filing police complaints against headmasters if NMC schools were found lacking in basic infrastructure.
TOI had recently reported on lack of infrastructure in the NMC schools.
Some 40 schools still lacked basic amenities like toilets and drinking water. The apathy of civic administration towards its schools continues.
The NMC schools had urged the education department to provide around 2,000 desks and benches. All demands were made well in time before new academic session began in June.
Jaiswal, in a meeting to review school infrastructure with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan officials and 10 assistant commissioners, expressed concern over lack of classrooms in many schools. Despite sanction for construction of 100 classrooms in 207 NMC schools, work started only on 28 this fiscal and construction of only seven was completed till date. Jaiswal said the buildings should be completed before end of this fiscal.
