City women go creative on social media to announce their pregnancy
NAGPUR: Hollywood beauty Anne Hathaway recently posted a picture flaunting her baby bump on Twitter. Supermodel Bar Refaeli also announced her
Saying boo to tabooThere are quite a few tech savvy mommies who have no qualms going all out when it comes to announcing a pregnancy. An airline staffer, Shweta Sharma, who shared her pregnancy news by posting a poem on Facebook says, “I normally express my happiness through poems and I penned one as soon as my doctor confirmed that I’m pregnant. I was so thrilled that I didn’t think of so-called social taboo of keeping the pregnancy a secret until three months, and posted it online immediately. Though I was criticised by some of my peers, many of my friends loved the way I announced it. I was overwhelmed with the congratulatory wishes that poured in on my post.”
Dads join in the celebrationMany glamourous maternity photo shoots are being done to especially announce the ‘good news’ on social networking sites. Smart messages and mommies flaunting their baby bumps are a common feature in these shoots. What is interesting is that even dads are joining in such photo shoots. City businessman Nishit Babaria clicked a picture with his preggers wife Trimple recently with a ‘coming soon’ placard. Nishit shares, “Fathers are equally excited to announce this news to the world just like expecting mothers, so why hold back when it comes to featuring in a funky maternity photo shoot?” He goes on to add, “It was the happiest moment of our lives and nothing could have been better than sharing it with our loved ones through social media. Our entire family was quite supportive of this step.”
Picture perfectAnother way of announcing pregnancy is posting symbolic pictures which can convey the message in a subtle yet creative way. “I searched for a lot of ideas on internet and finally got a picture clicked of me and my husband Nitin holding hands along with a baby shoe in the middle. As it was self-explanatory, we deliberately didn’t put any caption, explains an entrepreneur Upasana Singhal Bansal.” Another entrepreneur Manisha Verma, who too took to social media to announce her big news, says, “I posted a picture of mine holding a bouquet along with three teddy bears which indicated that there is a third member coming in our family soon. The post helped me convey the good news even to those residing in other cities.”
