Students of chartered accountancy will present papers at a national seminar of a similar course in Pakistan.
NAGPUR: As a move towards cross-border co-operation in the financial sector, students of chartered accountancy will be presenting papers at a national seminar of a similar course in Pakistan. A student from Nagpur, Nidhi Agrawal is also a part of the delegation. A first-ever such meet being held by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) on March 16 and 17 and in which Indian students will be presenting papers on different topics.
There will be 13 students accompanied by an officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, said the institute's director of studies Dr T P Ghosh. He added the students have been selected on the basis of open invitations, their score in examinations as well as performance in the institute's activities were also considered while making a decision.
This is a part of a regular exchange programme within countries affiliated to South Asian Federation of Accountants. However it is for the first time that the students will present papers at a seminar, which is again first of its kind, said Ghosh. During rest of the tour, the student will visit various firms as well as Pakistani companies to get a feel of business in the neighbouring country. The chairman of ICAI's Nagpur branch Julfesh Shah, said it is in-deed a matter of pride for the local branch as a student from the city has been selected for the delegation. The accounting practices are similar in both the countries and such gestures boost co-operation.
