City businesswoman is first runner up at Mrs India Globe contest
Nagpur: Close on the heels of her Mrs Inspirational title, which she won recently at a beauty pageant in Bangkok, city businesswoman Shilpa Agarwal has now clinched the first runner up title at the just concluded Mrs India Globe contest at Mumbai. She also picked up the title of Mrs India Globe Perfect Smile at this contest.
“Unlike the previous two pageants in which I participated over the last one month, this one was extremely competitive and all contestants were extremely focused,” Shilpa told TOI from Mumbai.

The pageant was held on Nov 5. Twenty contestants from around the world, all married women of Indian origin, took part. Though the contest is for married women, still there is a lot of stress on looks and fitness, Agarwal said. “As we have to wear various dresses, the body has to be in shape and toned. The skin should be glowing,” she said explaining the preparation required to participate. “My confidence levels have been going up after every contest as I observe the other participants keenly and learn from them,” she added.
She could not win the crown in the previous event. “But I analyzed my fault and worked upon it this time,” said Shilpa who rephrased her introduction for this event. “I had narrated my attempt to commit suicide. To the judges it appeared like an attempt to garner sympathy,” said Shilpa who is now planning to take part in Mrs Universe contest next year.
“It will require a lot of preparation as I will have to slim down further and get into a fitness regime,” she said adding that the city offered all opportunities for this. “Today we can know the latest trends from the Internet and there are many designers who help with wardrobe selection and styling.” Shilpa is also getting lots of calls from young aspirants who want her to groom them. “I just tell them all they need is determination and a fierce passion to win and everything else will fall in place.”
