Christians pray for normalcy to return to troubed Manipur

Nagpur: The Christian community held a prayer meeting at Samvidhan Chowk on Saturday for normalcy to return to Manipur where many lives have been lost due to violence.

Advocate Vipin Bower said, “Law and order must be restored in Manipur for which we have made an appeal to the government. All those who got displaced due to the violence must be rehabilitated properly.”

Bishop Satish Yangad said, “Our prayers are for the return of peace in the region. Our gathering today is not against anyone, but rather for a peaceful Manipur.”

Another participant, Meenu Manvadkar, said, “In Manipur, it’s not only about minorities. Meiteis, kuki or nagas, everyone is suffering due to the violence. We pray that all of this suffering must come to an end.”

Fr John Joseph added, “All the citizens of our country are my brothers and sisters. I pray for everyone who is suffering in Manipur.”

Plans are afoot to send relief items like food and clothing to the people of Manipur. The meeting was conducted due to the joint efforts of bishop Paul Dupare (deputy moderator, CNI), bishop Elisha, bishop John Joseph, bishop Satish Yangad, bishop Fedrick Raiborde, Rev Vijay Mohad, Rev Reji Lukas, Rev Kulothogan, Rev S Mohan, Rev SK Vaidya, Rev Ronny Jacob, Rev Suresh Godbole, Rev Dhiraj Solanki, pastor Pradeep Misar and pastor Wilson Patil. Apart from Bower, the other coordinator was pastor Jagdish Ukey.
