Celebrating the spirit of courage: SCZCC hosts vibrant ‘Veer Bal Diwas’

Nagpur: On Thursday, the campus of South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) came alive with a captivating celebration of ‘Veer Bal Diwas'. This day is celebrated to honour the supreme sacrifices of Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The cultural extravaganza was an electrifying display of talent, heritage, and patriotism.
The event opened with a solemn lamp-lighting ceremony by esteemed guests, including Parvinder Singh Vij, former president of Guru Nanakpura Gurdwara, and SCZCC director Aastha Godbole Karlekar.
The evening began with a breathtaking Bharatanatyam recital by artists from Pratibha Nritya Niketan, Nagpur. Their rendition of ‘Ragamalika' and ‘Adi Tala' in the piece Ganesh Pancharatna, choreographed by Ratnam Janardhan, set a tone of artistic grace and devotion.
Next, the audience was treated to a stunning Kathak performance by the Nritya Bela Foundation. Arushi Jogalekar and Swanandi Thengdi performed an intricate ‘tarana', while Rujuta Jadgaonkar's soulful ‘Taal Roopak' left the crowd in awe.
Adding rhythmic energy, the Swarved Foundation presented a dynamic tabla ensemble in ‘Teentaal' and ‘Keharwa', performed by Ravi Satfale's talented disciples. The synchronised beats of the tabla accompanied by Nidhi Bhalerao's violin infused the hall with a melodious charm.
Om Sadguru Sangeet Vidyalaya showcased classical vocal brilliance with renditions of ‘Raag Tilak Kamod' and Marathi Natya Sangeet by young vocalists like Shravan Meshram and Ishika Choudhary, supported by seasoned accompanists.
The highlight of the evening was the powerful performance by Shiv Navyug Dhol-Tasha Pathak, a trailblazing group of young drummers. Their thundering beats and flawless synchronisation had the audience cheering in amazement. It was a fitting tribute to the indomitable courage and sacrifice symbolised by ‘Veer Bal Diwas'.
