Nagpur: Four days after a security guard was found stoned to death at Danaganj area in Lakadganj, the police have nabbed the murderer after going through the CCTV footages from an adjacent shop. Santosh Devdas alias Santuram, the accused who hails from Chhattisgarh, will be produced in the district court on Wednesday.
The deceased, Manoj Vaman, 45, was a security guard at a liquor shop. His body was found at the entrance of the shop on the morning of March 18. Devdas used to work in a sawmill next to the liquor shop.
"They were good friends. Vaman often borrowed money from Devdas for food and liquor," said Pandey. On March 17, Devdas refused to lend money. "An enraged Vaman then abused Devdas and had an argument with him," he added.
Police said that on the same day Devdas had an argument with Prakash Chutelkar, another friend. "An already upset Devdas was confronted by a heavily drunk Vaman who abused him again. This again enraged Devdas who later crushed Vaman when he was asleep at the liquor shop," said Sr PI SB Mane.
During investigation, police got footages of Chutelkar having an argument with another person. They also learnt that Devdas was missing.
Lakadganj police got a tip-off that he was in Kalmana. So they immediately set a trap and nabbed him.
