CBSE warns evaluators over social media posts
Nagpur: CBSE teachers involved in evaluating Class 10 and Class 12 answersheets risk disciplinary action if they post comments, opinions, or experiences related to the evaluation process on social media. The board on Monday simultaneously issued a separate public advisory threatening legal action against outsiders spreading misleading information about its examinations online.
In the circular addressed to principals of all CBSE-affiliated schools, the board's controller of examination (CoE) Sanyam Bhardwaj reminded teachers that the evaluation process is confidential and governed by strict protocols. He said sharing any misleading information, experience, or opinions related to evaluation on public platforms is strictly prohibited. Any attempt to spread rumours or misrepresent facts on social media, he added, constitutes a violation of professional conduct and may attract disciplinary action. Teachers were specifically asked to exercise restraint and uphold integrity of examination process at all times.
The circular placed the onus of compliance on school principals, directing them to communicate the advisory to all teachers involved in the evaluation process without delay. The board said it expects all evaluators to maintain confidentiality, dignity, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The second circular, a public-facing advisory, said the board noticed that certain individuals, including those not directly involved in the evaluation process and those engaged in digital evaluation, are posting misleading and factually incorrect information on social media. Such posts, CBSE said, are creating confusion among stakeholders and adversely affecting the credibility of the examination system. The board said it expects full cooperation from all stakeholders in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the examination process.
Individuals found indulging in such activities will be liable for legal action, the circular stated.
Stakeholders were advised not to believe or attach importance to posts not issued by the board, and to treat only communications through CBSE's authorised channels and website as official.
