Care, Transparency Mark Police Recruitment Drive As Thousands Chase Dreams In Chandrapur

Chandrapur: More than 20,000 aspirants have reported to the police ground since February 11, each hoping to secure one of the 215 constable posts in Chandrapur district. Although the recruitment drive is large in scale, officials say equal emphasis has been placed on transparency, safety, and humane arrangements to support candidates enduring long hours of physical testing.SP Mummakka Sudarshan said the process combines strict protocols with welfare measures, including round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and on-site medical preparedness. Dedicated medical staff, along with an ambulance, have been stationed at the police ground to respond swiftly to any health emergencies during the physically demanding events.
The turnout comprised over 14,000 male candidates, more than 6,000 females, and two transgender candidates. The schedule began with 800 candidates on the first day. Authorities plan to handle nearly 1,500 aspirants daily, Sudarshan said.Security arrangements begin at 3am, with entry permitted from 4am. Attendance is recorded individually, and hall tickets, photographs, and Aadhaar cards are verified at entry. Candidates are assigned chest numbers before undergoing height and chest measurements. The physical tests, include a 100-metre sprint, a 1,600-metre run, and a shot put. Accommodation facilities have also been arranged at the police headquarters for aspirants unable to find lodging in the city. Officials have urged candidates to ignore rumours and cooperate fully, emphasising that the recruitment drive aims not only to select capable personnel but also to treat every participant with dignity and care.
