Speaking at the 6th annual Lokmata awards ceremony on the occasion of the 93rd birth anniversary of Sukalikar held at Niyogi Hall of LAD College, Vyas said that people should take inspiration from her work and carry forward her legacy of serving the society.

The Lokmata award winners for 2016 included noted film producer and director Samruddhi Porey, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Institute of Medical Science, Research and Human Resources and Ashok Munne, a physically challenged mountaineer who made an attempt to climb the Everest.

Speaking on the occasion, Porey said that one should not wait for others to take initiative if one wished to do something for the society.

Dr Viral Kamdar, who received the award on behalf of Deendayal institute, said that one should be thankful to people who give an opportunity to work more.

Munne, a one-legged wonder, said, “When you set a goal for yourself, take one step at a time and practise daily. Though I failed earlier, I will attempt to climb Everest again.”
