NAGPUR: In good olden days chanting of ‘bhajans’ was part of daily life of people that created positive energy. In the modern era, the practise seemed to have taken a back seat. But

Brahmachaitanya

Seva Samiti, Nagpur, has kept the old

religious

practices alive by holding a programme of ‘bhajan’ daily.

The samiti has 250 members who hold the ‘bhajan‘ programme daily for a month. This time, it was the turn of Swanand and Sharvari Udhoji who hosted a beautiful evening of ‘bhajans’ at their ‘Advait Sahanivas’, behind Chhatrapati Hall residence, on Friday.

The programme started with a devotional song, ‘Gajanana shri ganraya’, followed by ‘Doodh gheyi sadguru natha’, ‘Hanuman Chalisa’, ‘Jai jai Shriram, jai hari Shriram’ and ‘Panchpadi’. Everyone sang ‘bhajans’ along with singer Gopal Kulkarni. Classics like ‘Avirat othi yete naav’, ‘Naadi chya palyad’, ‘Girivasi tu Venkatrama’, ‘Luta bhajanache ranga’ and other ‘bhajans’ of Lord Ram were well received. Many youngsters too chanted ‘bhajans’ with their parents. But the main attraction was senior citizens who thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The old couples found an engaging as well as melodious evening.

The accompanying artistes were Harshad Paighan on tabla and Lalchand Ramteke on harmonium.

Sharvari, the host, said, “We are very happy to get an opportunity to organize the programme of ‘bhajans’ this month and gladly took this chance to cater to the people who love listening to and singing ‘bhajans’. We are followers of

Brahmachaitanya Maharaj Gondavalekar

who believed in Lord Ram.”

This was the 128th month of the samiti holding ‘bhajans’. The devotional programme is hosted at the residence of members one by one. The programme concluded with ‘mahaprasad’.
