Binagunda Police Post Proves Game Changer, Launch Pad For Ops In Abujmarh Core

Nagpur: Maharashtra Police took a big step towards ending the four decades-old Maoist insurgency in the state before the national deadline of March 31, with the elimination of 7 PLGA guerrillas in the 72-hour operation in Abujmarh. And the new police post at Binagonda, opened last week in the heart of the fallen Maoist headquarters proved to be the game changer.The Binagonda post opened last week became the forward base for launching operations straight into the heart of Abujmarh. The police posts at Fulnar and Binagonda are allowing C-60 commandos reach deeper into areas that Maoists once controlled with spike holes, booby-traps and minefields. For more than 40 years, the dense forests of Abujmarh, along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, served as the nerve centre of Maoists and a forbidden area for the govt.
With only a small number of Maoists remaining in Maharashtra, these new police posts are making a huge difference. They help security forces get closer, act faster, and strike harder. With better information and stronger support from the Central govt, the forces are working hard to finish off the remaining guerrillas before the deadline.
