‘Bharatmuninche...’ provides sneak peek into world of dramatic arts
Nagpur: Drama lovers got an opportunity to learn the nitty gritties of dramatics at a screening of a mini
The drama — adapted from Ghonge’s book ‘Bharatmuninche Natyashastra: Ek Rasaswad’— was narrated by Ghonge and Sonu Jeswani. The duo covered different topics of Natyashastra, including dramatic composition, narrative structure, stage construction, types of acting, body movements, make up, costumes, art direction, music and others.
Explaining the role of a lead character, Ghonge said the lead character must try to achieve the four goals prescribed by the Hindu philosophy. A play has ‘Dharma’, ‘Artha’ and ‘Kama’. It also includes humour and violence. A well-written play captures the good, the bad and all the feelings of each character, he added.
He further said that play as an art form acknowledges the complexities of every human being.
Later, Ghonge spoke on how dramatics art can achieve different goals. Just like taste of a dish depends on vegetables, spices and other ingredients which go into it, experience of the audience depends on the quality of dialogues, gestures, plot and acting in a play.
Ghonge also discussed the art of acting. Speaking of the range of emotions and expression he said that on must master different emotions and expressions to become a professional actor.
There are as many as 33 transitory psychological states, including discouragement, weakness, apprehension, intoxication, tiredness, anxiety, agitation, despair, impatience and others. A drama must use these psychological states to project its message, he added.
