Bhande Plot-Dighori Flyover To Miss April deadline, May Open In First Week Of May

Nagpur: The Bhande Plot–to–Dighori flyover, a key component of the Rs 998 crore Indora–Dighori elevated corridor, is set to miss its previously announced April-end opening. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials now say the flyover is likely to be opened in the first week of May, while maintaining that the overall project remains on schedule for completion by June 2026.The Indora–Dighori project comprises two major flyovers—Kamal Chowk to Reshimbagh Square and Bhande Plot to Dighori—with the existing Sakkardara flyover integrated into the corridor.A senior NHAI official said that construction of the main structure of the Bhande Plot–Dighori flyover is largely complete, with work pending only on the up and down ramps near Bada Tajbagh Gate. "The land for ramps was handed over late, which caused a minor delay. The ramps are now nearing completion and are expected to be finished within eight to 10 days, after which the flyover will be fully opened to traffic," the official said.Load testing has been conducted on two critical spans measuring 90 metres and 60 metres, with official results awaited to clear the structure for vehicular movement.The 2.2-km flyover begins at Bhande Plot Square, where the Sakkardara flyover descends, and extends beyond Dighori Naka along Umred Road—one of the city's most congested corridors. When completed, the project will offer an uninterrupted elevated stretch of nearly 5 km from Reshimbagh Square to Dighori, providing commuters a faster alternative to heavily congested surface roads and reducing daily travel time.Meanwhile, work on the Kamal Chowk–Reshimbagh Square flyover is progressing steadily. Officials said most of the structure is complete, with pending work confined to segments over two railway crossings at Pachpaoli and the up and down ramps near Daga Hospital. These remaining components are expected to be completed well within the June 2026 deadline, keeping the overall timeline intact.
