Bawankule orders strict quality checks in farm roads
Nagpur: Revenue minister and district guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Monday directed officials to enforce stringent quality checks in the execution of farm roads (pandan roads) under the Chief Minister Baliraja Panand Raste Yojana, warning that any lapses would not be tolerated. Chairing a review meeting at Zilla Niyojan Bhavan, Bawankule said the scheme is critical to strengthening the agriculture sector, but acknowledged that progress in some areas has been affected by encroachments and local disputes. He noted that complaints of substandard work have surfaced and called for immediate corrective measures. To improve transparency, the minister announced the formation of a dedicated committee for each Assembly constituency, to be chaired by the respective elected representative. He said no work should begin unless the proposed road is free of encroachments, assigned a unique identification number, and demarcated by the land records department. "A systematic approach at the constituency level is necessary to ensure durable and efficient outcomes," he said.He also recommended plantation along both sides of roads to strengthen embankments and meet afforestation targets. Around 100 surveyors are expected to join soon to support land-related work, he said.Officials informed that the state has integrated 14 schemes and mobilised 12 funding sources to support farm road construction. Bawankule urged departments to complete as many projects as possible before the onset of the monsoon. In a separate review of public health schemes, Bawankule directed authorities to launch a special campaign at the village level to boost enrolment under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, along with issuance of ‘Vaya Vandana' cards.Despite 390 hospitals being eligible in the district, only 69 have been empanelled so far. Officials said only 37% of eligible beneficiaries in Nagpur district have received Ayushman cards, while coverage under the Vaya Vandana scheme remains at 8%. Bawankule directed the district administration and health department to ensure that all eligible individuals are covered within six months.MLAs Sameer Meghe, Ashish Deshmukh, Charansingh Thakur and Sanjay Meshram, along with senior district officials, attended the meetings.
