Barred from going out on Holi, girl hangs self

Nagpur: An argument with her parents for not being allowed to go out on Holi led a 15-year-old girl to end her life. The deceased, identified as Dhanashree Dahare, was found hanging from the ceiling hook in the front room of her Nandanvan residence on Friday evening. Police said Dahare had appeared for her Std IX examination. Her father Sunil is an electrician while her mother is a housewife.Her younger brother is a Std II student.
Her parents said that she had an argument with them after they did not allow her to go out of home on Holi. The parents said they even explained her about the unsafe atmosphere on the festive day.
However, Dhanashree remained angry until the next day. On Friday afternoon, while her father was out for work and her mother was busy at home, Dhanashree hanged self. The suicide came to light when her father returned home and found the hanging body.
The parents immediately rushed Dhanashree to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. Nandanvan police has registered a case of an accidental death.
