When Nasir approached Nair, the manager demanded Rs 1,500 to expedite the process.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, Nasir approached the CBI office. The sleuths of CBI laid a trap and when Nasir handed over the money to Nair and signaled the CBI sleuths, who were lying in wait, they sprang into action and nabbed the manager.
The CBI team took Nair to Nagpur for preliminary investigations but later handed him over to Yavatmal police. The local police produced the accused before the Yavatmal court and obtained his PCR. Further investigation is in progress.
Farm activists have been alleging that there is widespread corruption and red-tapism in nationalised banks regarding crop loan processing. The arrest of the manager has proved that the allegations are true.
