The event was jointly organized by Nagpur Mahila Club and Padmaja Welfare Foundation. Chandak recently presented her research papers on Autism in

. She said, “I realized that India has more patients of autism and it is affecting boys way more than girls.”

Having pursued specialization in homeopathy from London, Chandak specified four types in Autism. She said, “Autistic disorder refers to problems with social interaction, communication and imaginative play in toddlers. In Asperger’s syndrome, kids don’t have issues with language; in fact, they have excellent IQ. However, they deal with same social and behavioural problems.”

“Pervasive development disorder (PDD) is atypical kind of class whose symptoms don’t fit in other categories. In childhood disintegrative disorder, they lose some or most of their communication and social skills after two years of age,” she said.

Chandak revealed that WHO has renamed this neuro-development disorder as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which brings all types under a single umbrella diagnosis. According to her, modern sciences fail to find the root cause of this disease but homeopathy has an answer. She said, “Homeopathy suggests that every illness depends on psychological conditions and a disturbed mind will lead to sickness.”

“Emotional suppression of mother during different stages of pregnancy has varied effects on foetus precipitating autism. Heavy metal toxicity is also a cause observed in India.
