NAGPUR: Flying squad of City RTO officials, comprising assistant RTO Kiran More, inspector Mohan Borde and assistant inspector Mahesh Kale, detained an Audi and a BMW car for plying on city roads without paying state tax.
Sources said the Audi (CG-07-M-21) was owned by Sunil Maloo, a resident of Wardhaman Nagar. Though the car is plying on city roads, Maloo had allegedly registered the vehicle with Chhattisgarh state, where the road tax is very low.
The BMW (AP-10-AW-7110) belonging to one VK Agrawal was plying on city roads since last two years without paying Maharashtra road tax. Apart from taxes, owners of the cars will also have to pay fine for evading state road tax, said a senior official.
