At 14 degrees, city sees coldest Oct in last 4 years

The city recorded coldest October night in last four years at 14 degree on Sunday, which was four notches below normal. Nagpur was also the coldest district of the region.

(IMD) officials, the city will experience colder days in November as the maximum temperature will fall by 4-5 degree, while during night the temperature is likely to fall further by two degree compared to October. Even the highest maximum temperature in October has been recorded as lowest in last three years at 34.4 degree.

Weatherman predicts clear sky till November 4 and partly cloudy sky for the following two days. According to IMD forecast, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 14 degree for the next three days and is then likely to rise by one degree for rest of the week.

Soon after withdrawal of monsoon in the city on October 14, there was a drastic decline in minimum temperature. Until that day the minimum temperature was recorded between 20 and 24 degree. From the evening of withdrawal, the temperature went down to 16.2 degree and since that day has never risen above 16.7 degree except on October 26, when it was 18.1 degree.

On Sunday, city’s temperature was lowest, followed by

Yavatmal

at 16 degree,

Wardha

at 16.6 and

Amravati

at 16.8 degree. On the same day, Brahmapuri was the hottest at 19.3 degree, followed by

Chandrapur

(19), Buldhana (18.2), Akola (17.5) and Gondia (17.4).

On the same day, Akola had the hottest day at 33 degree, followed by Chandrapur (32.8), Wardha (32.1), Nagpur (31.8). Post-monsoon rainfall is being experienced in many parts of the country including south, but no rainfall has been recorded in Vidarbha. IMD officials do not predict any further rainfall in the region for rest of the months.

Rainfall recorded in the city during October was 68.3mm, which is 20% above normal. Gadchiroli at 109.5mm recorded highest rainfall in the region, which is 59% above normal, followed by Chandrapur at 96.7mm, which is 48 % above normal.
