Artistes enthral with musical gems

Nagpur: Music lovers from across the city got an opportunity to relive the musical gems of composers Shankar Raghuvanshi and Jaikishan Panchal, popularly known as Shankar Jaikishan, at a musical event Diamonds Forever organized by Shri Sidhivinayak Publicity at Scientific Hall on Sunday.
Artistes presented many songs composed by the duo and sung by veterans like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and others.
Shreya Tarale sung ‘Ajeeb dastan hai ye’ which left everyone in the audience longing for more. Nandu Andhare presented ‘Sajan re jhoot mat bolo khuda ke pass jana hai’, one of the celebrated songs composed by the duo and sung by Mukesh.
Shankar Jaikishan were at the top of their careers during the 1950s and 1960s.
Just when everyone was expecting the next performance to begin, Sagar Bhatke surprised all as he started singing ‘Zindagi ek safer, hai suhana’ from the audience. Bhatke also sung ‘Geet gata hu main’.
Artistes presented many songs and created an atmosphere of joy. Arvind Patil and Sarang Joshi also sung songs like ‘Kisi ki muskurahaton pe ho nisar’ and others.
Vishakha Udgaonkar, one of the members from the audiences, said, “Old songs are the best. Today we relived the great era of songs and music which was created by genius artists.”
Other artistes who supported the singers include Nandu Gohane (octopad), Prashant Nagmote (tabla), Gaurav Tangsarye (guitar) and others.
The hall reverberated with claps and chants of ‘once more’ the artistes performed one after another musical classics.
