had jointly organized a programme to pay tributes to noted

and set designer

Sanjay Kashikar

at Shrimant Baburao Dhanwate Sabhagruha,

Shankar Nagar

, on Friday.

Kashikar breathed his last on Monday at a hospital where he was battling for life since the past 15 days. He had met with an accident and was seriously injured which ultimately led to his death. Akshaya Tritiya was chosen for holding the programme as homage is paid on this day to the deceased loved ones.

, Madhu Joshi, Narendra Shinde, Shekhar Sawarbandhe, Sanjay Bhakre, Pramod Bhusari and Salim Sheikh condoled the death of Kashikar.

Gandhi said, “We cannot write the destiny of people. The least we can do is to help the family members of the artistes who face the tragedy. Helping them in their moment of grief will be the real tributes to the departed soul.” Gandhi also said that insurance cover should be provided to artistes and their families. The matter is being discussed and a plan will be worked out soon, he added.

Farkase described Kashikar as ‘Chalti firti karyashala’ as he was very passionate about his work and known for his exuberant attitude in society.

Naidu said, “Kashikar was very kind-hearted, humble and persistent in his work. Sketch artist Nana Misa painted Kashikar’s portrait during the function.
