Ambedkar Bhavan demolition: Garuda directors booked

Nagpur: Ambazari police registered a FIR against Narendra Jichkar and other directors of the Garuda Amusement Park Pvt Ltd. after their revision petition was dismissed by the district and sessions court on Monday.The court upheld the chief judicial magistrate’s order of filing an FIR against the directors of Garuda Amusement Park Pvt Ltd. Jichkar and others in connection with the demolition of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Cultural Building in Ambazari garden area.Along with Jichkar, the police have also booked Vijay Shinde, Pravinkumar Agrawal and Pravin Jain. Gajanan Kalyankar, police inspector of Ambazari police station, informed that offences have been registered under sections 295, 425, 120-A, 120-B of the IPC read with section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Pubic Property Act.The court was approached after the police did not take any action despite a series of complaints filed by followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar over the last two years.The chief judicial magistrate had directed the police to file a case against Jichkar on the charge of demolishing Ambedkar Bhavan. Jichkar had challenged this decision before the district and sessions court. It was heard on Monday.The court rejected Jichkar’s revision petition. Prakash Jaiswal represented Jichkar, while the complainant, Rajesh Gajghate, was represented by Roshan Bagde, Lubesh Meshram, and Vaibhav Dahiwale.
