AI In Classroom: NMC Teachers Upskill To Power Digital-age Learning
Nagpur: Classrooms across Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) schools are beginning to reflect a digital shift, as teachers move beyond traditional methods to embrace AI-driven tools. From creating dynamic lesson plans to generating interactive study material, teachers are being trained to integrate AI into everyday teaching while also understanding its limitations and risks. The initiative marks a step towards preparing both teachers and students for a rapidly evolving, technology-led academic environment. Teachers are being trained in the use of ChatGPT, MS Word with Copilot integration, applying AI in teaching methodologies, recognising AI security breaches, managing student attendance, calculating result percentages, and basic laptop operations. The programme aims to enable teachers to create engaging teaching material, lesson plans, notes, and educational content in significantly less time.In a move aimed at aligning NMC school education with the demands of the digital age, the AI training programme focuses on equipping teachers with modern tools and classroom innovation techniques. The initiative is expected to enhance both teaching efficiency and student learning outcomes across NMC schools. The training, organised by Robotex India, is being conducted at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee e-Library under the initiative ‘Establishment of Microsoft Educator AI Academy for Skilling and Economic Empowerment (EASE)', with Nagpur designated as a regional hub. The sessions started on April 2.NMC additional municipal commissioner Vaishnavi B visited the training programme on Saturday and interacted with participating teachers, encouraging them to actively integrate artificial intelligence into their teaching practices. She emphasised the importance of guiding students in the responsible use of technology."AI training offers an excellent opportunity for teachers in a rapidly changing technological era. It will help ensure that students from NMC schools are not left behind in competitive environments," she said, adding that the initiative would not only upgrade teachers' skills but also contribute significantly to students' overall development.Education officer Madhuri Katkar, school inspector Prashant Tembhurne, along with headmasters, teachers, and representatives from Robotex India, including Revati Phanse and Mohit Wakode, were present.
