‘Accidents’ play major role in shaping life: Actor
Nagpur: Life is what happens when you don’t plan and restrict it. Being unplanned about the future helped me to diversify and gain knowledge of different fields, said Akash Khurana, an eminent actor, screenwriter and entrepreneur, on Wednesday.
Speaking on ‘Accidents and adventures’, organized by SGR Knowledge Foundation as part of a lecture series at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Khurana seemed to refer ‘accidents’ to what unfolds in one’s life whose course does not go on expected lines.
Khurana said, “Accidents and adventures are milestones and events that shape a person’s life. One needs to understand the significance of their unique accidents and adventures and not compare those with others.”
Khurana, who hails from the city, shared his journey from being a student of SFS School to working in theatre and film industry, besides running a company.
Khurana, who juggled multiple jobs in different fields while sustaining a family, emphasized the importance of living in the moment and focusing on the current job. “I enjoy the work I am doing in the present and not stress about the other things on the plate. Focus on personal and not career development is important,” he said.
“It was not my aim to become a theatre artiste. I did mechanical engineering from NIT, Raurkela, MBA in marketing from XLRI and worked at Tata Motors for the next eight years. Acting just happened along the way.”
When asked about his work in the industry, the actor shared his early experiences in Mumbai when he made his first screen appearance in Shyam Benegal’s ‘Kalyug’. Performances in ‘Company’ and ‘Beta’ are his favourite.
He has given around 600 theatre performances in three years and is also doing a job. He has worked with the likes of Naseeruddin Shah and Satyadev Dubey in Prithvi Theatre. He has founded Nimbus Communications Ltd.
Mrunal Nayak of SGR Knowledge Centre and director of Chitnavis Centre Mohan Sarwate felicitated Khurana.
