A musical delight by Rajanigandha singers
Nagpur: City music lovers savoured a musical delight on Saturday as Rajanigandha Music Unlimited presented a number of solo and duet performances at a concert titled ‘Barkha Rani’, to welcome the monsoon season. Conceptualized and directed by Parineeta Maturkar and coordinated by Shrikant Sapre and Ashwini Devghare, the programme was held at Madhuram Hall, Mor Hindi Bhavan, Jhansi Rani Square.
Sachin Patrange hit the first musical note with the peppy number ‘Ruk jaa o dil deewane’ followed by Deepak Tambekar’s rendition of Mohammed Rafi’s song ‘Yun toh humne lakh haseen dekhe hain’. The first duet of the evening by Raj Gore and Naresh Kawale on ‘Tumse milke aisa laga’ earned encores from the listeners.
Lawyer LN Bobade and Maturkar regaled the audience with a striking performance on ‘Neend na mujhko aaye’. Mrunal Tumhan took to the stage next and presented ‘O sajna barkha bahar’. ‘Vada karo nahi chhodoge’ by Ashutosh Chahande and Devghare was a noteworthy performance and appreciated by everybody present.
The title song ‘Barkha rani zara jamke barso’ by Bobade proved to be one of the best performances of the musical extravaganza.
Songs like ‘Dono ne kiya tha pyaar’, ‘Tere sang pyar main nahi todna’, ‘Taaron mein sajke apne suraj’, ‘Tum aaye toh aaya mujhe yaad’, ‘Jab mohabbat jawan hoti hai’, ‘Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par’, ‘Sambhala hai maine bohot’, ‘Jaane chaman shola badan’, ‘Pukarta chala hu main’ and ‘Pardesiya yeh sach hai piya’ made the audience nostalgic and relive the golden era.
Jayshri Lule, Mangesh Pawar, Shruti Sapre, Neeta Kerhalkar, Ramesh Chavle, Pradip Barad, Anil Gange, Sumitra Thakre, Murlidhar Barde, Deepak Tambekar, Shaila Kachole, Milind Tamhan, Shikha and Ajay Deshpande were the other singers.
Sandip Malik and Maturkar concluded the show with ‘Aaj rapat jaye toh’. Shrikant, the host for the evening, had the audience in rapt attention and entertained them with his gimmicks. Venu Agrawal and Sheetal Agrawal were the guests.
