The organization has been providing adventure exposure to the populace ranging from students to corporate honchos and is majorly funded by the ministry of youth affairs and sports, union government.
Recently, the NAF conducted a three-day workshop at Sahas camp, Wadgaon, with 68 persons hailing from different walks of life attending it.
Lieutenant general GL Bakshi and Brig Ravi Kumar were the chief guests of the event. The programme was conducted to popularize the importance of adventure sports.
Adventure activities like river rafting, rappelling, rock climbing and commando tower is conducted through the NGO without compromising on the safetyaspect. The girls are imparted self-defence training. They were taught about different sports and the safety measures undertaken.
Speaking to TOI, GL Bakshi said, “Adventure sports give an individual the chance to conquer his fear and realize his passion. In these type of challenging activities, a person competes with himself than being pitted against his counterparts. We want to give everyone a chance to realize their own potential and incorporate the habit of sports in their life.” Bakshi said, “We also encourage women to participate so as to break the ice and overcome gender bias. We are now focusing on including the rural youth and underprivileged sections of the society to give them enough adventure exposure.”
Social skills too are developed through these activities. He informed that two students from Wardha were sent to Singapore for advanced training in their chosen sport.
