A book narrating unique ‘horse ride’ through history of India

Critically hailed by historians and acclaimed by writers, Chandra’s book is a fascinating, in-depth look into Indian history, mythology, art, literature, folklore and popular belief through horses! Absolutely intriguing, the book narrates the importance of horses as political symbols, highlights their cornerstone role and status in social life, religion, sport, and wars in not just India but also across all lands.
In her book, Chandra trots out the most amazing facts, connecting social, political and cultural economies. Chandra narrates how important an agency and voice the horse acquired down the centuries.
The author has a PhD from SOAS University of London, and her research was about history of art. Her book is based on her interest in animal history. She is an affiliated fellow of the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, New Delhi.
Moderating the conversation will be Rajiv Aggarwal, a business thinker and advisor with vast experience of working around the globe, holding top management positions in Fortune 500 MNCs with a keen interest in horses and horseback riding.
VLF is a non-profit organization formed by intellectuals of the city, connecting readers of all ages and inviting contemporary writers to Nagpur for in-person interactions.
The author interaction of the exciting and unusual book, published by Picador, will be held at Chitnavis Centre on Saturday at 5pm.
