834 Voters Across 32 Local Bodies To Elect Nagpur Local Authority MLC; Polling On June 18

Nagpur: Around 834 voters across 32 local bodies are eligible to vote in the Maharashtra Legislative Council bypoll for the Nagpur Local Authorities constituency seat.The figure may change after the final strength of members from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, municipal councils, nagar panchayats and nominated Cantonment Board members is confirmed. "The final voter list has been sought from all 32 bodies and will be finalised shortly," said Nagpur collector Kumar Ashirwad on Tuesday.Polling will be held on June 18 from 8am to 4pm through ballot paper, while counting is scheduled for June 22. Results are expected on June 22 or the following day.A special model code monitoring wing has been set up under Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni. Expenditure and media monitoring teams, along with election officials, have been deployed.Ashirwad warned against attempts to influence voters through inducements, cautioning that practices such as lodging voters at resorts would be treated as bribery and invite action.
