NAGPUR: The lower court has issued summons to 82 personnel of Pachpaoli police station, out of 140 or so, after three murder accused in their custody alleged torture and beating before a magistrate. The summons, issued by judicial magistrate first class RD Khedkar, ensured presence of sizable number of cops at the court on Monday for identification by the three complainants, now in magisterial custody.
The three were arrested for alleged murder of
Suraj Yadav in November last month and slapped with stringent Maharashtra control of organized crime act (MCOCA). Police have so far arrested 14 persons for Yadav's murder over a property related dispute. The mastermind in the case, Dallu Sardar, is yet to be nabbed. Yadav is related to a BJP corporator. Member of legislative assembly Devendra Fadnavis too had met with then city police chief Ankush Dhanvijay pleading for stringent action.
Among the arrested, Pintu Chaware was the first to complain of torture in custody. The court then directed police to get Chaware's injury report from Mayo hospital. Chaware has been now joined with two co-accused, Sandeep Singh Jawher and Pappu Zade. It is learnt that court adjourned identification for January 7 as some cops were not present.
