8 suspected heatstroke deaths in Yavatmal in 48 hours
Yavatmal: The district has reported eight deaths in the last 48 hours amid a period of intense summer heat. As per district health officer Dr Subhash Dhage, all the deaths may have been caused by heatstroke, though the exact cause will only be confirmed after autopsy reports are received.Earlier, three deaths had been reported within 24 hours at Digras. Two more people reportedly died on the Chapmanwadi and Bhosa routes in Yavatmal, two died in Pusad, while one person was found dead in Babhulgaon. Four of the eight deceased have been identified so far.In Babhulgaon, the body of Marotrao Kawe was found beneath a bridge on the Gavandi–Kinhi road. An elderly woman identified as Annapurna Mule reportedly felt unwell after filling water in a cooler under the scorching sun in Pusad's Hanuman Ward. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead before treatment could begin.Panic spread in Pusad after the body of Subhash Rathod was discovered near the dumping yard in the Indira Nagar area operated by the municipal council.The administration has appealed to citizens to avoid venturing out during peak afternoon hours and to take necessary precautions against extreme heat.
