5 women arrested for kidnapping and selling 3-yr-old from Ballarpur
Chandrapur: A three-year-old boy, who was abducted while sleeping beside his parents near Ballarpur railway station was rescued, and five women from Telangana were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and selling him for 3.5 lakh, police said on Sunday.The child was reported missing on Saturday (February 27) by his mother, who lives with her husband near the railway station and earns a livelihood by collecting scrap material.

Chandrapur SP Mummakka Sudarshan constituted seven teams comprising officers from the local crime branch and Ballarpur police station. Investigators scanned more than 100 CCTV footage and analysed technical evidence. A tip-off from a resident helped police identify the suspects, leading teams to Mancherial in Telangana.Police said 3 women — Ailakka Budde (60), Rani Pasnoti (30) and Sangita Pananganati (40) — allegedly travelled to Ballarpur with two unidentified men, and abducted the child. The boy was later sold to two other women, Satakka Karre (50) and Lavanya Kona (34), residents of Manthani in Mancherial district.All five women have been arrested with the assistance of local police in Telangana. The two male suspects remain at large.
