5 DCPs visit Mominpura, review security before Eid
Nagpur: Five officers of the rank of deputy commissioners of police (DCP) visited Mominpura market during rush hours on Wednesday to supervise security arrangements for Ramzan Eid celebrations.
This was the first time that five DCPs — Rahul Maknikar (zone 3), Rakesh Ola (zone 2), Krishnakant Upadhyay (zone 1), Sambhaji Kadam (crime) and S Chaitanya (traffic) — jointly conducted a security review and also met local residents and traders as they walked through the streets in the sensitive locality. Staffers of Tehsil police station and traffic personnel accompanied them.
In the past, zonal DCPs used to undertake such a drive in Mominpura as part of security preparation before the visit of CP and joint CP for exchanging greetings at the mosques in this locality which buzzes with hectic trading activity during this time of the year. With local Muslim cuisines available aplenty, especially kebabs and biryani at a number of stalls during this period, citizens from other parts of the city too throng Mominpura during Ramzan.
A senior officer said presence of five DCPs on the streets was a morale booster for constabularies deployed in the area. “Local traders and residents too were happy seeing senior officials visit Mominpura. In addition, supervision by senior officials has ensured the security arrangements are comparatively better this time,” he said.
