19-year-old stabs four to avenge kidnapping plaint

Nagpur: A 37-year-old woman, Bismillah Kanauj, along with brother-in-law Iqbal Shaikh, son Sahil and their worker Raju Dhamgaye, were injured after 19-year-old Ramzan Ansari went on a stabbing spree on the four in murderous rage on Smart City Road on Sunday.It’s learnt Ansari was miffed with Bismillah after she lodged a complaint against him for kidnapping her daughter in March. Ansari had been arrested following Bismillah’s complaint.

On Sunday, Bismillah, Iqbal and their workers were heading to Shyam Nagar from Baradwari when Ansari nearly dashed them with his car. When Bismillah and Iqbal confronted Ansari for trying to mow them down, he got infuriated, pulled a knife from his car and attacked the woman and her brother-in-law.Iqbal was the first to be stabbed followed by Dhamgaye when he tried to shield him. Bismillah, who had alerted her son Sahil, was also injured when Ansari assaulted her as she tried to rescue the others.Sahil, who reached the spot by then, was also injured when he tried to grab the knife in Ansari's hand. Ansari later fled the spot, leaving the car behind. The injured rushed to Pardi police station from where they were taken to Mayo Hospital.Pardi police have registered an offence of attempt to murder against Ansari.
