12 Maoist bodies recovered after 6 hour operation

NAGPUR: Around 12 bodies of the armed Maoists guerillas were recovered after six-hour long operations in the forest of Wandoli near Gadchiroli-Chhattishgarh border on Wednesday. An officer and a jawan of C60 commando unit of Gadchiroli police were also injured in the action.

An operation was launched at around 10 am on Wednesday from Gadchiroli in which seven C60 parties were sent near Chattisgarh Border in Wandoli Village following an input of around 12-15 Maoists were camping near the village. An heavy exchange of fire started in afternoon and continued intermittently till late evening for more than six hours amid heavy rains.

A search, post operation, had led to recovery of 12 Maoist dead bodies till now. Seven automotive weapons including three AK47, two INSAS, one carbine, one SLR have been recovered till now. The operation was led by Dy SP (operations) Vishal Nagargoje.
Dvisional committee member Laxman Atram alias Vishal Atram, in-charge of Tipagad Dalam, has been identified as one of the dead Maoists.

One sub-inspector of C60 and a jawan have suffered bullet injuries. They are out of danger and have been evacuated and have been shifted to Nagpur, informed SP Gadchiroli Neelotpal.

Dy CM and home minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a reward of Rs 51 lakh.

IG, Anti-naxal operation, Sandip Patil stated the operation was a major blow to the Maoists in Gadchiroli.
